Faceplates zijn gevaarlijk om zomaar uit te brengen, dat zagen we voorheen al in het nieuws. Maar de mensen van Dbrand gaan het toch proberen en dagen Sony uit om wellicht weer een rechtzaak te beginnen tegen deze praktijken. Via de MP1ST zien we dat het bedrijf haar eigen faceplates heeft aangekondigd voor de console en ze zeggen zelfs in een statement dat ze wachten op de juridische stappen van Sony: “Sue us, Sony” (klaag ons aan). Ze zouden zelfs de productie van de plates eind dit jaar gaan starten. De plates zijn van plastic en pre-orders worden pas geaccepteerd wanneer de voorraad op peil is. Dit zal waarschijnlijk begin 2021 zijn. Sony heeft nog niet gereageerd. Het gehele statement en een screenshot van de faceplate vind je beneden:

We’ll be entering mass production on PS5 Faceplates by year’s end. However, we won’t be accepting orders until we have stock at our Toronto HQ, ready to ship. If CD Projekt RED has taught us anything, it’s that selling products before they’re finished is a bad idea.
If you’re among the millions of humans who didn’t get a PS5 for Christmas, stay calm when you see these go out-of-stock. We anticipate that the demand will outpace supply at launch, but rest assured Faceplates will be a permanent fixture in our portfolio.
