Sony heeft vandaag bekend gemaakt dat van de PlayStation 2 40 miljoen stuks zijn verkocht in Europa en andere PAL-gebieden over een periode van 6 jaar. Met dit aantal overtreft de PS2 de PS one, waarvan in totaal ‘slechts’ 39 miljoen stuks zijn verkocht. In 6 jaar behaalde de PS one 33 miljoen verkopen. Tot slot wist Sony te melden dat er nu meer dan 2000 titels voor de PlayStation 2 beschikbaar zijn. Een aantal dat met nog eens 50 games wordt aangevuld voor kerst dit jaar.

PlayStation 2 will remain the computer entertainment system of choice for new and experienced gamers alike.”
