Onafhankelijk ontwikkelaar Polypusher Studios kondigt met trots de release aan van haar indie horror adventure debuut, Montague’s Mount. De Ierse studio werkt nauw samen met de Engelse uitgever Mastertronic om de game op de markt te brengen. Vanaf vandaag is Montague’s Mount te downloaden voor Mac, PC en Linux via GOG.com, Get Games en GamersGate. Fans van Steam kunnen stemmen op Montague’s Mount via Steam Greenlight.
Montague’s Mount werd voor het eerst publiekelijk getoond tijdens Rezzed! PC and Gaming Show. Recenter werd het spel getoond tijdens de Eurogamer Expo. Hier presenteerde de ontwikkelaar ook voor het eerst de Oculus Rift ondersteuning. De respons hierop was fenomenaal.
Montague’s Mount is een first-person avontuur vol afzondering, troosteloosheid en de gekwelde geest van een man, afgezet tegen de kilheid van een geïsoleerd Iers eiland. Als speler kom je bij bewustzijn op een stormachtig strand, niet wetende waar je precies bent. Exploratie en puzzels oplossen zijn de sleutel tot het vinden van wat er nu werkelijk gebeurd is.
Polypusher Studios’ Matt Clifton zegt: “Montague’s Mount has been my life for the past two years and a lot of blood, sweat and tears have gone into making the game. If you scrape below the surface of the story, the underlying character is basically me, albeit taken to an extreme. We are both foreigners relocated to a remote area of Ireland, isolated from family, friends and the community as a whole. I set out to make a very personal game about how isolation can affect a person, much as it once affected me. Montague’s Mount is not your normal adventure/horror title; it is a more subtle and mature thriller. You can pigeon-hole games like this into the ‘horror’ genre, but Montague’s Mount is a more thought-provoking experience than that. I’m humbled by the response I’ve had from developers and gamers so far and hope they enjoy the complete Montague’s Mount experience.”
