You play as Jester and head off from your desert planet and onto a galactic-scale adventure. Events, fields and battles are presented seamlessly, with no load times and only a rare blank transition screen. The battle system is action based, with combos and special attacks. The game also includes an item synthesis and creation system.
GameplayThe game’s engine features a continuous environment with no load time and battles taking place in the overworld in real time.
Similar to Dark Chronicle, the upgrade system consists of synthesising items, and then applying the items to the weapon or the item you wish to upgrade. The item gains the power earned from the item, such as fire.
Combat is done much like that of Kingdom Hearts II and Final Fantasy XII. Where the player gets to fight enemies on the same playing field. Thus having transitionless battles. Also players can perform Double & Triple Techs (Ã la Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross).

Fulfilling his wish, he joins the crew of the Dorgenark-Go, a space-faring pirate ship under the command of space pirate Dorgengoa. The crew of the Dorgenark-Go has high hopes of finding a legendary planet which holds the secret to eternal life. The search for the planet turns into a competition when the sinister Daytron Corporation joins the fray. The game’s characters share similarities with Star Wars characters. For example, one is a tall, thin robot, who is often accompanied by a short, stumpy side-kick of sorts. This is similar to R2-D2 and C3PO. In addition, one female character has headwear similar to Princess Leia, and the lead character, Jaster, could be compared to Luke Skywalker. The story is also set across different planets.

Rather than just a straightforward localization, the development team will be adding some features and making some changes to the game before its release.
An all-new planet, with a new sub-story to accompany it
Chain attacks now occur manually, by way of the use of items dropped by monsters; in the Japanese version, chain attacks occurred randomly
More than 100 new items, weapons, and other collectables
Tweaked and/or expanded animations
The game was shown at E³ 2006, and will be released in North-America and Europe this September

If there has been a single RPG that I’ve seen up to this point that looks like it could give Final Fantasy XII a legitimate run for its money, it would be this one. Whether or not it can live up to such a goal once it’s out on shelves, however, we’ll just have to wait and see…
SCORES: Weekly Famitsu [10, 9, 9, 8], Dengeki PlayStation [95, 85, 85, 80]

- AuteurBerichten
