Good news for the gamers in the Netherlands, e-Sports in the Netherlands will be offically recognized by the government. The head-admin of the Best of Benelux, Antonie a.k.a. Enigma, and a couple of other well known names from the National and International e-Sports / gaming world were working silently on this Dutch e-Sports association.

Today, they announced in the Essent Cable COMgress congress in the Holland Casino Breda that the procedures for creating an association for eSports, attached to ‘Netherlands Olympic Committee * Netherlands Sport Confederation (NOC*NSF), are started. The association will officially start in 2006 with known competitions. More information can be found on E-sportBond.nl.

This is a very important development for the Dutch gaming community. The existence of an association means professionalism, a standardization and the opportunity for sponsor agreements will increase.
