Slipknot-bassist dood aangetroffen

Dat is wel heel vroeg, ik ben benieuwd waaraan hij dood is gegaan.

Best kut. Heb ze vorig jaar nog gezien, zeker mooie show. En bij het openen van de website staat nu ook een plaatje van paul.

Best een kutjaar voor de muziekindustrie, peter steele (type o negative), Ronnie James Dio, en nu paul van slipknot overleden.

ja, in 2003 was ie nog opgepakt vanwege drugsbezit..

ik vind het echt zo erg

laatste keer dat ik ze gezien heb is alweer 2 jaar geleden…

totaal 3x gezien, waaronder m’n eerste concert in 2004

die man zat zoveel energie, hij leek het basgitaren zo leuk en stoer lijken!

The eight surviving members of SLIPKNOT just held a news conference at Wells Fargo Arena in the band’s native stomping grounds of Des Moines, Iowa to address the death of their bassist, Paul Gray. Also present at the event was Gray’s brother Tony and widow Brenna, who spoke briefly at the end of the conference.

“He was everything that was wonderful about this band and about this group of people,” frontman Corey Taylor said. “The only way I can sum up Paul Gray is ‘love.’ Everything he did, he did for everyone around him whether he knew you or not … and that’s what he’s left behind for us: absolute love. I will miss him with every fiber of my heart, as will everybody at this table and everyone who knew him. He was the best of us.”

“It’s very important that everybody on the outside of us understands that Paul Gray was the essence of the band SLIPKNOT. … Paul was there from the very, very beginning, and none of us would be on the path that we’re on now in life or have the sorts of life that we have without him,” percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan added. “Paul loved the fans. He was kind of the person in the band that really wanted everybody in the band to always get along and just concentrate on the band. He was a really great friend and a really great person. He’s going to be sadly missed, and the world is going to be a different place without him.”

“It’s very hard for me right now,” added drummer Joey Jordison. “I just want to say that I love you, Paul, very much. You’ll be sorely missed by the world over.”

“Paul was my husband, an amazing person, and I want people to remember him for that,” Brenna said. “And his daughter will remember him for the way he was.”

Paul and his wife were expecting their first child, reportedly due in September.

Bottles of pills and a syringe were next to the body of Slipknot bass player Paul Gray when he was found dead at an Urbandale hotel, according to a 911 tape obtained by WOI-TV.

Gray was discovered at about 10:50 a.m. Monday at TownePlace Suites, 8800 Northpark Drive. Hotel employees checked the room after Gray’s family called to say they could not reach him by phone.

An autopsy performed Tuesday revealed no cause of death, and the Polk County medical examiner said he would not release evidence from the autopsy until toxicology tests are completed in four to six weeks.

Gray pleaded guilty in 2003 of driving under the influence of drugs after he crashed his Porsche into a Des Moines motorist. His court file included a handwritten note from Dr. Joe Takamine, who said Gray understood the dangers of drug use and was not addicted to any drug.

CAUSE OF DEATH: An autopsy of Paul Gray has revealed no cause of death, Urbandale police said Tuesday. Toxicology results are not complete, but those could take weeks.

TRAUMA: The autopsy confirmed that there was no evidence of foul play or trauma and that Gray had been dead for several hours when his body was found.

DETAILS: Urbandale Sgt. Dave Disney said police would not release information about where Gray was found in the hotel room or what else was found. “We really want the medical examiner to give his ruling,” Disney said. “We really don’t want to create speculation by taking certain things out of context.”

het is nog niet officieel naar buiten gebracht als doodsoorzaak, maar het is wel verdacht dat er pillen en dergelijke gevonden zijn.

ik snap overigens ook niet waarom hij een overdosis zou nemen, hij wist de gevaren ervan en hij verklaarde zichzelf in December 2009 de gelukkigste man toen hij hoorde dat hij een kindje zou krijgen… alleen daarvoor zou je toch al van de drugs vandaan blijven, lijkt mij?

daar heb je natuurlijk helemaal gelijk in.
